Plextronics, a company that develops active layer technology for printed electronic devices, has won the Clean Energy Entrepreneur of the Year award from the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
The award was given to the company that has the best chance of future success and who, in the judges’ opinion, made the best overall presentation at the forum.
“We are committed to delivering revolutionary renewable energy products based on Plexcore including organic solar cells and white lighting with the goal of providing both an economic and environmental benefit,” said Andrew Hannah, Plextronics’ President and CEO.
“Thirty four of 106 applicant companies were selected by investors to make a presentation at the Forum, and of these thirty-four entrepreneurial companies, the forum investor panelists chose Plextronics as having the strongest overall business case and presentation,” said Forum Chairman Lawrence Murphy of NREL.
Plextronics has been awarded $1.3 million in grants and loans through the Pennsylvania Energy Development Authority to advance its organic photovoltaic program.
