Under a program to cut costs and reduce carbon emissions from its light-duty fleet by 15 percent, the British Government will spend $1.33 billion to replace 78,000 vehicles, The Times reports (via Green Car Congress).
Fifteen manufacturers will supply cars over the next four years. The cost will be shared by 38 government departments.
Departments wanting to join the program calculate the amount of pollution from their current fleet and then access a database of European, Asian, andNorth American cars to “shop” for their desired vehicles.
