United Technologies Joins Chicago Climate Exchange

United Technologies has committed to join the Chicago Climate Exchange. By joining CCX, United Technologies has committed to cut its North American greenhouse gas emissions by six percent minimum by year 2010 in absolute
terms.

“United Technologies views climate change as both an environmental challenge and a business opportunity,” said Richard Bennett, UTC Vice President of Environment, Health and Safety. “UTC also understands that conserving resources and minimizing external impact in an environmentally conscious marketplace provides a competitive advantage. Since
1997, we have reduced energy use significantly while nearly doubling the size of the company. Joining CCX is a natural next step as we prepare to launch our new EH&S goals in 2007 that will include direct and indirect greenhouse gas reductions.”

“UTC will play a critical role in shaping the emerging carbon market and its institutions,” said Dr. Richard Sandor, CCX’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “We look forward to working with them as an active member of CCX.”
