Chevron Completes $2.6 Million in Energy Upgrades at RI Tech Schools

Chariho Vocational Technical School and East Providence Vocational Technical School, both in Rhode Island, have spent $2.6 million to lower energy costs by more than $139,000 a year and reduce electricity demand.

Chevron Energy Solutions completed the upgrade which included a complete electric heat conversion to natural gas and installation of new heating, cooling and domestic hot water systems for both schools. The upgrades also included new energy management systems and at Chariho, an asbestos-covered domestic hot water tank was replaced, adding to the complexity of the project.

“There is no doubt that we were demanding customers in this project,” stated Arn Lisnoff, Administrator with the State’s Division of Capital Projects and Property Management, “and Chevron, in combination with their Rhode Island partners, never failed to meet or exceed our expectations.”

The State of Rhode Island manages the Energy Service Program, which is designed to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions and make State buildings more energy efficient.
