GE to Supply 300 Turbines to Noble’s NY Wind Projects

GE Energy will supply 300 1.5-megawatt wind turbines to Noble Environmental Power. The company will use the new GE turbines for the second phases of the Bliss Windpark, located in Wyoming County in western New York; and the Clinton Windpark, located in Clinton County in northern New York.

As of Dec. 31, 2006, the state’s installed wind energy capacity stood at 370 megawatts. The 2007 and 2008 Noble projects will increase New York’s wind power capacity by 450 megawatts.

Plans call for selling all of the power from the wind projects to the New York Independent System Operator for dispatch through the state electricity grid.

  1. We were riding our Harley’s yesterday as I took a friend to see the turbines. i told her how beautiful and how large they were. We pulled over to see if we could hear them and no we could not. We ended up going to the ceremonies at Ellenburgh just to get information. When we saw the suits and cameras we felt we were out of place and started to leave but people were kind enough to answer our many questions We were there for about an hour and recieved so much information. I can’t believe people wouldbe against these turbines. They must be blind ,stupid or just not aware of the many beneficial facts we learned. It’s great, they are beutiful ,quiet and many people drive or stop by just to view them. Businesses next to these parks who sell food, gas and news would do well to have informational packets for the curious. Tours of the areas would be very beneficial. My firends and I are certainly supportive of it.Wish I had lots of land to put some in.
    Thanks ,
