Philly Airport to Spend $1 Million on Wind Power

Philadelphia International Airport will spend more than $1 million over the next five years to buy some of its energy through Peco Energy Co.’s Peco Wind program, The Philadelphia Business Journal reports.

The airport said it will get seven percent of its energy per year from wind power. The 13,000 megawatt hours will add $227,514 per year to the airport’s Peco bill. The wind power purchase is the largest of any airport in the U.S.

The deal qualifies the airport for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership, Forbes reports.
