Sony, Electrolux Win Corporate Commitment Prize from European Commission

The European Commission handed out its Sustainable Energy Europe Awards last month. There were four prize categories, these being public-private partnership, awareness-raiser, sustainable
community and corporate commitment.

The winners were:

  • Sustainable Housing Europe a social housing project with partners in Denmark, France, Italy and Portugal,
  • Climate Seeks Protection, a national organization co2online based in Berlin that advises householders on how to cut CO2 emissions and energy bills with energy efficient products,
  • Fossil Fuel Free-Vaxjo, a project to encourage the people of the Swedish city to live more environmentally friendly lives, and
  • Two projects by Sony and Electrolux shared the corporate commitment prize. Sony’s program significantly cut the amount of electricity used on a TV’s standby light. Electrolux won for its energy efficient designs.
