Apple Recycles School Computers For Free, Any Brand

Apple has launched a free recycling promo that lets K-12 institutions, colleges, and universities with 25 or more computers could register before the end of June to recycle their old systems for free, AppleInsider reports. They don’t have to be Apple computers and there’s no limit to the number of computers that can be recycled. No purchase is necessary.

Apple says it will collect the systems itself, after they’re placed on pallets and shrink wrapped. All of the American computers it receives will be recycled within the country. A common criticism of the computer industry by activist groups is that obsolete computers are shipped overseas.

Recently, Apple Chief Steve Jobs posted a letter on Apple’s Website announcing its efforts at recycling old products and eliminating toxic substances from new ones.
