Ford Motor Company has released its latest sustainability report.
The company reports a reduction in global energy use by 27 percent and water use by more than 25 percent since 2000.
The report also includes an estimate of Ford’s GHG emissions:
- Emissions from facilities improved by approximately 17 percent between 2001 and the current report, reflecting approximately a seven percent improvement in the amount of CO2 emitted per vehicle produced, due to more efficient use of energy and lower overall vehicle production.
- Emissions from 2005 vehicles on the road increased by about four percent, primarily reflecting an increase in assumed vehicle miles traveled globally, partially offset by a decline in vehicle sales.
- Emissions from all Ford vehicles on the road are estimated to be about 370 million metric tonnes CO2 per year.
- The emissions from Ford’s facilities and Ford-made vehicles on the road remained relatively stable between 1999 and 2005 at approximately 400 million metric tonnes CO2.
Earlier this week, Ford joined the United States Climate Action Partnership.
In April, Ford promoted Susan Cischke to senior vice president to lead the company’s sustainability efforts.
