PowerFile, SoftLayer, Storewiz Join Green Grid

The Green Grid has added three new members. PowerFile, SoftLayer, and Storewiz have all announced that they’ve joined the consortium of companies working to advance energy efficiency in data centers and computing ecosystems

“We consider it an honor to take part in an organization that promotes such an important cause, and hope that with our product, we can contribute to The Green Grid’s mission of lessening dependence on power consumption in the data center through the simple-yet-effective method of reducing the amount of information to be stored in the first place,” said Gal Naor, CEO of Storewiz. “By enabling the storage of up to five times the data on the same storage hardware, we are able to positively impact the amount of hardware running and management associated with data storage today while providing the ultimate benefit of improved energy efficiency at organizations around the world.”

“SoftLayer has long focused on reducing the environmental impact of our own facilities,” said Sam Fleitman, Chief Operating Officer of SoftLayer. “We’ve accomplished a lot, from deploying systems with greater power efficiency to increasing our data centers’ density while minimizing their footprints. By joining The Green Grid, we’re expanding our scope beyond just optimizing our own operations to helping the industry set higher efficiency standards and develop better environmental practices.”

“As more and more organizations struggle with requirements associated with maintaining growing levels of data, energy and management expenses continue to climb to points that are costly from both an economic and environmental standpoint,” said Jonathan Buckley, Vice President of Marketing for PowerFile. “PowerFile anticipates it will announce different utility-provided rebate programs in North America in the coming months for the adoption of PowerFile’s cleaner and greener solutions so that customers will not only be able to earn a financial rebate, but can be a good global citizen at the same time.”
