Mazda Hybrid Gets Tax Credit

Mazda Motor Corp.’s hybrid Tribute SUV has qualified for a U.S. tax credit of as much as $3,000, Bloomberg reports. The credit is $2,200 for the four-wheel-drive version and the higher amount for the two-wheel-drive model.

Mazda, a Japan-based affiliate of Ford, starts selling the car within three weeks. The gasoline- electric SUV is built by Ford and is similar to the hybrid version of its Escape.

Mazda is the sixth automaker to offer a hybrid in the U.S., after Toyota ,Honda, Ford, General Motors, and Nissan.
