Safeway has converted all 79 of its Arizona trucks to B20 Biodiesel made from domestically manufactured virgin soybean oil, Green Car Congress reports. The conversion will reduce Safeway’s carbon dioxide gas output by 3,603 metric tons.
Additionally, the company will sell a B20 blend at the Safeway gas station in Tucson.
In February, Safeway began test-marketing B-20 biodiesel at one of its gas stations in Seattle. The company has about 270 gas stations in the U.S. which offering gas discounts for shoppers who have a Safeway club card.
