Starbucks Talks Up Climate Change To Promote ‘Arctic Tale’

On August 15, Starbucks will host what it’s calling a National Day of Discussion: Solutions to Climate Change at coffeehouses in more than 60 U.S. cities. The move is part of Starbucks efforts to promote the new film “Arctic Tale.” Starbucks has signed on to promote the film with special in-store signs, cup holders and other tie-ins, in exchange for a portion of the film’s earnings, The Globe and Mail reports.

The company says that the discussions will be hosted by community leaders and non-governmental organizations with an expertise in environmental science. The Climate Group, Conservation International, Earth Day Network, Earthwatch Institute and Global Green USA helped create discussion guides.

“We’re thrilled to have Starbucks support our film,” said John Lesher, president of Paramount Classics. “They have the ability to reach millions of people in a single morning, ensuring that the message behind ‘Arctic Tale’ will resonate well beyond the theater.”
