Coke Lightens Up PET Bottles

On the heels of releasing its corporate responsibility review, Coca-Cola has announced a newly designed 20-ounce polyethylene terephthalate contour bottle for all of its Coca-Cola brands. The new bottle has added texture, a shorter cap, and an embossed Coca-Cola logo.

The bottle’s new design is completely recyclable and uses five percent less PET than its predecessor. It also has added texture, a shorter cap, and an embossed Coca-Cola logo.

Coca-Cola, PepsiCo and makers of bottled water such as Nestle SA have been criticized by environmental groups for how much they contribute to landfills and for using too much energy to make plastic containers made from polyethylene terephthalate, which is derived from petroleum, Bloomberg reports.
