Dell Goes After IBM and HP With New Green Blade Servers

Dell introduced its new PowerEdge M-Series blade server chassis and blades and said in terms of performance and power consumption, it compares well with HP and IBM blades. You can see Dell’s highlights and its comparison with other brands here.

Dell is offering two types of blades, the M600 and M605, and according to Albert Esser, VP of power and cooling infrastructure for Dell, because of the company’s new energy-efficient power supplies and power-management software, the Dell blade servers use up to 19 percent less power than the similarly configured HP BladeSystem c-Class blade servers and get up to 25 percent better performance per Watt.

Esser said the Dell models use 12 percent less energy than the IBM BladeCenter H models and get up to 28 percent better performance per Watt.
