DOE Abandons FutureGen CO2 Project

futregen2.jpgThe U.S. Department of Energy plans to pull its support of a $1.8 billion FutureGen project to build a power plant that captures pollution underground, according to this report. In December, the FutureGen Alliance announced plans to build its first facility in Matoon, IL. Ballooning costs and a dispute over the location prompted the DOE to pull its support.
