Nokia Promises More Energy-Efficient Chargers

nokia_charger1.jpgNokia has joined the WWF Climate Savers program and pledged to cut the power consumption of its battery chargers in no-load mode 50 percent by 2010. The company said it that figure has already fallen by more than 50 percent over the past nine years, reports Business Week. The company also vowed to use green sources for 50 percent of its company’s plants and offices by 2010. It currently uses green electricity for 25 percent of its energy in facilities worldwide.

Nokia said it reduced the company’s overall global energy consumption by 3.5 percent and is planning further savings between 2007 and 2012 of six percent compared to 2006 levels. Nokia was recently listed among the 100 most sustainable companies in the world.
