IBM Launches New Center For Water Management in the Netherlands

ibmwater2.jpgIBM will establish a Global Center of Excellence for Water Management in Amsterdam. IBM says that the center will help IBM’s public sector clients  develop prediction and protection systems for low-lying coastal areas and river deltas and will play a role in the delivery of the Dutch Government’s Flood Control 2015 water innovation program.

Initially, the IBM Center will use smart sensors, gaming technology and 3D internet skills to provide the Dutch government and various agencies with better flood forecasting and prediction modeling. Eventually, it will develop additional water management offerings.

The new water management program is the latest in IBM’s $100 million Big Green Innovations initiative announced in 2006. Big Green has focused on water management, carbon management and alternative energy.
