Barclays To Cut Data Center Energy Use With HP Tech

Barclays will introduce HP’s Dynamic Smart Cooling technology to its new data center in Gloucester, U.K.

HP’s technology is part of a package of energy-saving measures that Barclays says will save up to 13.4 percent of total energy used for its data center, reducing its carbon footprint by approximately 7,470 metric tons of CO2 per year.

The HP system uses software fed by air-temperature measurements that monitors and adjusts the air handlers to adjust cooling energy based on demand from the servers and storage devices.
