Discovery Channel Primes Pump For Planet Green

planet_green_channel.jpgIn order to give Planet Green a lift prior to its June launch, Discovery Channel will air some of the programming aimed for the new channel on Saturdays in May, MediaPost reports.

The telecasts will showcase the branded integration opportunities Planet Green is offering advertisers. The advertisers joining Planet Green at launch include Home Depot, S.C. Johnson Waste Management and General Motors.

The advertiser association with Planet Green can stretch to the network’s Web site, TreeHugger.com and other platforms. A Waste Management banner was spotted on PlanetGreen.com before it was removed, according to the article.

Planet Green programming will include a cooking show with Emeril Lagasse that is shot in a Whole Foods Market.

  1. There is to be a motorcycle race on the streets of Austin, TX and is being organized by Armadillo Supermoto. The event is the first of its kind in that it will have a 0(zero) carbon footprint. I think it would be a great idea to have Discovery, Home Depot, Whole Foods, and GM sponsor the event. There are so many ties with the event, especially being in Austin: Lance Armstrong, green and eco-friendly event, whole foods headquarters, etc. Home Depot might be interested in sponsoring because they compliment Discovery, and also because the central motorcycle used in supermoto is KTM (which shares the same colors as Home Depot)
