SAS Considering Campus Solar Farm

sas_headquarters.jpgSoftware maker SAS is studying the feasibility of building North Carolina’s biggest solar energy farm on its corporate headquarter campus in Cary, The News & Observer reports. The company will try and come to a decision in the coming weeks.

The project could produce about 1 megawatt of electricity and could qualify for state and federal tax benefits, potentially saving SAS several million dollars.

“We’re always looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly but in ways that also make bottom-line, economic sense,” SAS spokesman Dave Thomas says in the article. “And if there’s a way to do that with solar energy, we’re for it.”
