Bush To Give Speech On GHG Emissions Goal Today

bush.jpgOn Wednesday, President Bush will lay out specific goals for limiting greenhouse gases, making a commitment to other nations about U.S. intentions and announcing an intermediate goal, The New York Times reports.

Last week, the Bush administration held a meeting with Republican lawmakers to gauge the reaction to the idea of supporting a limited cap on greenhouse gases, but a White House spokesman says that Bush does not intend to lay out a specific emissions reduction plan today.

The White House convened a conference in September aimed at reaching agreement on climate change by the end of this year. As part of the negotiations, major polluting countries are meeting in Paris this week, which explains the timing of the speech.

The speech is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. EST.

  1. Rather than encourage people to drive conventional cars by granting tax rebates and reducing gas prices, they should look to giving subsidies for more environment-friendly cars.
