Konica Minolta Reaches Zero-Emissions Goal

konica_minolta.jpgKonica Minolta Group has achieved “Level 2 zero emissions” at all of its 15 production bases in Japan, Tech-On reports.

Its Level 1 zero emissions criteria calls for plants to boost resource recovery rate to more than 90 percent, reduce final disposal rates to less than five percent, and cut external payments more than 90 percent or make it less than profits from recycling efforts. For Level 2, externally discarded waste volume per sales has to be cut more than 30 percent.

In March, Konica Minolta Technoproducts and Konica Minolta Components were the last groups to achieve Level 2. The former company reused packaging materials and standardized the shape of packaging boxes with its affiliates, while the latter recycled plastic chips in addition to the standardization of boxes.
