Kyocera has released its 6th Environment and Safety Promotion Plan, which encourages company-wide energy saving measures, waste reduction and other activities over the next three years.

Kyocera has set a GHG reduction target of 44 percent by 2010, which exceeds the voluntary goal of 35 percent set by the electronics and electric industry, according to the report.

The Kyocera plan also outlines the goals for the next 5- and 10-year periods with a 50-percent reduction in GHG emissions from the 1990 levels by 2012 and a 65-percent reduction by 2017.

The company has expanded its environmental plan to include overseas group companies with all 68,000 employees of the Kyocera Group participating in the effort. In January the company announced that it will begin the full-scale adoption of hybrid vehicles for company cars for general sales activities and movement between offices.
