Performance Track Members Reduce GHG Emissions Nearly 310,000 Tons

nept.jpgEPA released its Sixth Annual Progress Report for the National Environmental Performance Track program, which encourages facilities with strong environmental records to improve the quality of the United States’ air, water, and land beyond what they are required to do by law.

To date, Performance Track member facilities have:

  •  Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 309,780 metric tons;
  • Increased the use of recycled materials for production processes by 559,991 tons; and
  • Reduced water consumption by 5.2 billion gallons.

While the EPA points out that all Performance Track members are environmental leaders, some have been recognized by the program for exemplary achievements in environmental performance, mentoring, and outreach. The 2007 exemplary members are:

  • McNeil, PPC (Lititz, Pennsylvania)
  • Siltronic Corporation (Portland, Oregon)
  • DENSO Manufacturing Michigan, Inc. (Battle Creek, Michigan)
  • Montenay Bay, LLC (Panama City, Florida)

Performance Track has 533 members — ranging from major corporations to small businesses and representing a variety of industries across 49 states and Puerto Rico — who have voluntarily collaborated with EPA to establish goals for environmental improvement.
