Illinois-based CDW is turning two of its hosting centers green.
The Wisconsin hosting centers, totaling 10,500 square feet, will now be powered by 100 percent renewable energy.
As part of the company’s initiative to reduce its carbon foot print, CDW Corp. has contracted with Madison Gas and Electric to purchase almost 12 million kilowatt-hours per year of renewable energy, making it the largest private buyer in MGE’s Green Power Tomorrow program.
The effort will provide an annual carbon offset of around 13,000 tons, approximately the amount of carbon dioxide emission from electricity use by about 1,500 residential homes, says Phil LaForge, director, Hosting and Managed Services.
CDW also participates in the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Partnership program. The program encourages green power purchasing by organizations as a way of reducing the environmental impact associated with purchased electricity use.
