Fujitsu Releases ‘Green Policy 2020,’ Holds Off On Details

fujitsugreenpolicy.jpgFujitsu Group has established “Green Policy 2020,” which it calls a “medium-term environmental vision.” Fujitsu estimates that its initiatives will result in reducing CO2 emissions in Japan by 30 million tons per year by 2020.

In January, Fujitsu announced a new company-wide initiative dedicated to make greener products in a greener fashion that, in part, aimed to reduce more than 7 million tons of CO2 emissions across all Fujitsu Ltd. companies from fiscal 2007 to 2010.

In addition to cutting emissions in Japan by 30 million tons annually by 2020, the policy lays out two goals:

By 2020, Fujitsu says that it wants all of its business areas (software and services, hardware, electronic devices, others) to be energy efficient. Fujitsu will also set up a new organization to promote low-carbon initiatives.

Fujitsu also says that it plans to address every area of the Leadership Declaration of the Business and Biodiversity Initiative, with specific initiatives underway before 2020.
