Nordstrom Doubles Square Footage, Cuts Energy Consumption

nordstrom.jpgNordstrom recently doubled the size of its Cedar Rapids fulfillment and contact center, but the retailer expects to reduce its energy consumption and save almost $150,000 annually on its energy bill.

The company has installed new energy-efficient lighting fixtures, which are expected to save more than 3.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity each year. It will also reduce the company’s greenhouse emissions by over 2,500 metric tons.

Nordstrom also received a rebate check of more than $190,000, by participating in a rebate program from its utility, Alliant Energy, which offers cash incentives to businesses to implement energy-efficiency projects.
