Silk Touts Success Of Green Caps

Silk Soymilk is touting the success of its Green Caps for Green Energy program that donates 30 kilowatt-hours of green tags, equal to one day of energy consumption by the average home, to grow the national green power grid for each UPC number entered on its Web site.

Now in its second year, the program donates green tags, which replaces power produced from fossil-fuels with renewable power created using wind turbines, and is designed to convert the purchase of Silk Soymilk into increased funding for wind energy.

Consumers have surpassed Silk’s goal to offset 200,000 homes for a day by registering over 400,000 UPCs, within the first two months of this year’s program.

The program partners with Bonneville Environmental Foundation and funds wind farms across the country, including the Gray County Wind Project in Kansas, the Blue Canyon Wind Project in Oklahoma, the Edgeley/Kulm Wind Energy Center in North Dakota and the White Creek Wind Project in Washington state.
