AT&T Joins Green Grid, Promotes Data Center Energy Efficiency

data_center1.jpgAT&T Services has joined The Green Grid and also announced it will supply data center performance information to assist the EPA in developing a new Energy Star rating for data center infrastructure.

The Green Grid is a global consortium working to advance energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems.

The EPA’s new Energy Star rating system aims to help data center operators asses the energy performance of their buildings’ infrastructure and identify buildings with the greatest opportunity for improvement. The initiative will ultimately enable data center facilities to earn Energy Star certification for energy efficiency.

The EPA plans to have its first Energy Star rating for servers ready by the end of the year.

The Green Grid delivered the framework for new strategies, methodologies and process recommendations earlier this year at its first ever technical forum.
