Ivy League Scores On College Sustainability Report Card

college_sustainability_report_card_2009.jpgColleges across the U.S. and Canada are boosting sustainability initiatives, with two out of three schools improving their grades from last year, according to the new College Sustainability Report Card 2009.

Out of the 300 schools surveyed, five Ivy League schools made the top 15: Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Harvard, and Penn.

Other schools with top marks include Stanford and the following liberal arts colleges: Carleton, Dickinson, Middlebury, and Oberlin. State school leaders include University of Colorado, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, and University of Washington. In Canada, the University of British Columbia was the only school to earn the distinction.

Car-sharing programs are now available at 42 percent of schools surveyed, more than double the level of last year.

Renewable energy investments by schools surveyed also doubled, increasing from 21percent to 50 percent this year.
