JohnsonDiversey Investing $19M To Reach 8% GHG Reduction

johnsondiversey.jpgJohnsonDiversey announced it has joined the World Wildlife Fund Climate Savers program. By 2013, the company says it will reduce 8 percent GHG emissions from its operations based on 2003 level; an 89,000 ton reduction in emissions.

Over the next five years, the company will invest $19 million to achieve these commitments and anticipates operational savings of $31 million over the same period.

Some of the company’s initiatives include:

– Switching its worldwide auto and truck fleet to vehicles with the best fuel efficiency in their class and alternative energy vehicles.
– Upgrading the energy efficiency of its buildings, manufacturing plants and operations in major sites around the world.
– Installing on-site alternative energy sources such as fuel cells or wind turbines.

In JohnsonDiversey’s latest CSR report, the company reported that its Aquacheck water management program helped its food and beverage customers save more than a billion gallons of water in 2007.

Last September, the company unveiled a $24 million green distribution center in Sturtevant, WI., which uses 30 percent recycled materials.
