Ben & Jerry’s announced the launch of a pilot project to test hydrocarbon-based freezers in the U.S. with the hope that it will eventually be approved for long-term use.
The company says the new freezers are greener, cleaner and present environmental benefits by minimizing the freezer’s impact on global warming.
Approximately fifty freezers will be tested this fall, with approval to test up to 2,000 freezers in the next few years.
In January, the company wrapped up a Social Footprint pilot conducted by the Center for Sustainable Innovation.
