DHL To Eliminate 6 Million Paper Invoices Per Year

dhl1.jpgDHL announced that customers using its e-Billing service will no longer receive their invoices on paper. The move is expected to eliminate 6 million paper invoices annually by 2010, equivalent of saving about 600 tones of CO2 and 2,400 trees per year.

Accountis Ltd, a division of Fundtech, has been working with DHL for two years to help develop the company’s e-Billing capabilities.

“We are currently experiencing a 30% increase in the number of e-invoices sent through the system each month, proving that organizations across Europe are ready and able to embrace this greener technology,” said Brian Thumwood, DHL’s e-Billing Manager in a statement.

UPS tested  paperless billing ast year.

DHL aims to improve the carbon efficiency of its own as well as its subcontracted services by 30% by 2020.

In March, the company launched DHL GoGreen Express in the Asia Pacific region which lets customers offset shipping emissions.

Last year, DHL introduced a reusable envelope for customers that ship and return legal-size documents.

DHL has done well in recent research that has graded shippers on environmental performance and sustainability reporting.
