Fiat has developed eco:Drive, a computer application that connects a car to a PC to evaluate driving styles and find ways to cut down on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Fiat says drivers can expect to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 15 percent. The tech could soon show up in Fords, too, CNET has reported.
Driving data is transferred from the car to a computer, by means of a USB stick and Fiat’s Blue&Me technology. The computer application on the computer analyzes your acceleration, deceleration, gear changes and speed and provides advice on how to alter driving styles to cut fuel use.
