Harrah’s Retrofit Cuts 2 M kWh Per Year

harras.jpgHarrah’s Rincon Resort and Casino announced that it has completed an energy efficiency retrofit project.

The project, headed up by Lime Energy, includes new light emitting diode technology in elevators, recessed downlights and outdoor signage. The retrofit has resulted in utility cost savings of $200,000 annually, as well as reducing 2 million kilowatt-hours per year and avoiding 1.8 million pounds of CO2.

In July, Harrah’s launched a program to sell carbon offsets to guests and employees.

Harrah’s said in February that it is working to obtain LEED certification for its $1 billion expansion at Caesars Palace.
