Anheuser-Busch Cuts Landfill-bound Materials By 2,400 Tons

Anheuser-Busch has reduced the weight of material it contributes to landfills from its  U.S. breweries by nearly 22 percent, or about 2,400 tons, in 2008 compared to the same time frame last year.

The company says it has reduced aluminum can weight by more than 40 percent since the 1970s.

In July, the company announced it will brew about one in seven beers, or over 5 billion 12 oz. servings, with alternative energy by 2009 as part of its goal to run its U.S. operations on 15 percent renewable fuel by 2010.

The company has installed pollution reducing equipment in 15 delivery trucks operating out of its Bronx, N.Y. location.
