Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) business announced it is now participating in the Cool Planet Project and will begin reporting GHG emissions.
The company has saved 7.9 million kilowatt hours of energy by participating Southern California Edison’s energy management programs.
Between 2006 and 2008, SAS reduced overall energy consumption at its El Segundo headquarters by almost 15 percent and avoided more than 5,500 metric tons of GHG. This was achieved by installing high efficiency motors, building and and occupancy light controls, and using LED lighting for the facility.
SAS’s corporate parent, Raytheon Com. is a member of the EPA’s Climate Leaders. The company has pledged to cut GHG emissions 33 percent by 2009 from its 2002 baseline. At the end of 2007, Raytheon had cut GHG emissions by 28 percent, thus avoiding more than 140,000 metric tons of GHG emission since 2002.
