There is also energy-saving insurance, which insures building owners against the risk that capital improvements will not produce the anticipated energy savings and upgrade endorsement, which covers replacement to current building code. Indoor environment coverage protects against claims of physical injury caused by any pollution produced by a green building’s specialized air or water control equipment.
Last month AIG started offering green building coverage against “adverse publicity.” The reputation coverage provides up to $50,000 in coverage (per occurrence) when a green building experiences adverse publicity.
