Loews is launching a “Buy Local” mandate across its chain of hotels to “support and enhance local farming communities,” the company announced.
The new “Adopt-A-Farmer” program aims to green up hotel menus while supporting local farmers, fishermen and independent purveyors. The chain will offer locally sourced, seasonally appropriate menus, including many organic ingredients, and “From the Garden” selections.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego will use more than 60 seasonal herbs and vegetables from its own organic garden, while partnering with 12 local farming communities for produce. In Tucson, the Loews Ventana Canyon resort will feature a new “Desert Tasting Menu” with native ingredients from the Tohono O’Odham Native American Nation.
Across the country, many of the Loews Hotels are sourcing organic meat and free-range poultry as well, from ranches that don’t feed their animals hormones or antibiotics.
