Kodak Developing OLED Lighting Panels

Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) technology was pioneered by Kodak in the late 1970s, but now Kodak is embarking on a project to use the technology to create lighting panels with applications in industrial, commercial and residential settings.

The Department of Energy has awarded Kodak $1.7 million to develop the technology, according to a press release.

OLED solid state lighting has tremendous potential to transform the future of the lighting industry, meaning that future lighting systems can be lower-cost and more energy-efficient, said Dr. James Buntaine, Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Kodak OLED Systems.
