RPA Adds Pilgrim’s Pride, Ready Pac Produce, YottaMark

rpalogoSix companies have joined the Reusable Packaging Association (RPA) to help advance reusable and sustainable packaging. These include three end-user companies Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., Ready Pac Produce, and Tanimura & Antle, as well as the California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA), StopWaste.Org, and YottaMark Inc.

RPA expects that Pilgrim’s Pride Corp., Ready Pac Produce, and Tanimura & Antle will help give voice to the end-user segment of the supply chain, and help guide RPA’s future initiatives that support adoption of reusable packaging systems throughout the supply chain.

RPA recently made the strategic decision to place a stronger emphasis on end users, and established the Reusable Packaging Association End-User Advisor Council. RPA defines end users as any company that uses a reusable packaging asset in its supply-chain operations for the movement of goods from manufacturing/processing to its customers. Members of the end-user council currently include The Kroger Company, Pilgrim’s Pride, Ready Pac Produce and Tanimura & Antle.

Earlier in the year, RPA unveiled a Reusable Packaging Economic Calculator to help businesses determine the cost savings of converting to reusable packaging from single-use corrugated packaging. The organization also released a study that found that radio frequency identification (RFID) tags designed for single use are able to withstand multiple trips without deterioration in performance.
