Nevada National Guard Adding 3.4 MW Solar PPA

TN-443031_solargarageimageSolar parking lot structures will add electricity at three Nevada Army National Guard sites. The structures will begin construction in November and should be operational by next June, according to a press release.

The solar photovoltaic installations, which have a total capacity of 3.4 megawatts, are being installed by Sierra Solar I.

The installation is a power purchase agreement (PPA), under which Sierra Solar will finance, design, procure, construct, operate and maintain the solar photovoltaic parking lot facilities. In return, the Nevada National Guard is entering into 20-35 year contracts to purchase power at a fixed cost per kilowatt hour.

Nevada Army National Guard sites to receive the panels are: Fairview Complex Headquarters in Carson City, Nev., the Las Vegas Readiness Center in south Las Vegas, and the Floyd Edsall Training Center in North Las Vegas.

Sierra Solar I is a subsidiary of GA-SNC Solar LLC, which has partners including Sierra Nevada Corp. and Gestamp Asetym Solar North America Inc.
