Deutsche Bank Adds 250KW Solar Array

As part of its goal to be carbon neutral by 2012, Deutsche Bank has added a 250-kilowatt solar array to its Piscataway, N.J., office.

The array, made up of 1,066 roof-mounted solar photovoltaic modules, can provide up to 100 percent of the facility’s electricity needs during peak daylight hours, according to a press release.

The system will generate about 12 percent of the electricity needed to run the offices year-round. The system was designed and installed by Vanguard Energy Partners.

Deutsche Bank has stated it wants to become carbon neutral in its global operations by 2012, So far, the bank has been able to reduce its electricity consumption by 19 million kWh across its offices in the Americas, and 54 million kWh globally.

The company either purchases or generates renewable energy for about two-thirds of its power needs globally.

In the U.S., UK, Italy, Switzerland and Germany, 100 percent of its electricity is derived from renewable sources.
