Two-sided Solar PV Panels Unveiled in Canada

avacosDuROCK Alfacing International Inc. is demonstrating the combination of its Tio-Coat reflective roof membrane in conjunction with a new type of solar photovoltaic panel from Sanyo that can generate power from both sides.

The Sanyo HIT (Heterojunction with Intrinsic Thin-layer) double bifacial panels generate up to 30 percent more power than regular single-sided photovoltaic panels, according to a press release. The panels can be mounted to carports, canopies and other types of coverings, according to the release.

When used in combination with the white reflective roof coating, which reflects as much as 89 percent of the solar radiation, the two-sided panels are doing double the work. Additionally, the reflective roof membrane helps reduce the building’s cooling costs, said Gary Campacci, President of DuROCK.

Avacos Solar helped integrate the two technologies.

The 10 kilowatt array is tied into the grid.

Meanwhile, a Salem, Ore., factory that produces silicon for the Sanyo HIT panels has just entered production, reports the Statesman Journal.

    I’m currently looking for either a sales carreer, or consulting career in the growing PV field. PV site QA inspector, or even a onsite Due Diligence Inspector would be great as well.

    I am a VA Veteran with an extensive background in all Battery Technologies, Inverters, and PV & Wind Gennie apps.

    Preferrably in Southwest FL or 2nd choice OC area of CA.

    Any help greatly appreciated!
