EnerNOC has signed a multi-year deal to supply Tucson Electric Power (TEP) with up to 40 megawatts (MW) of demand response capacity beginning later this year using the company’s demand response application, DemandSMART.
TEP expects the demand response program to help the utility maintain reliable service during periods of peak energy demand and lower the electricity cost to business customers by eliminating the need to add generation resources to serve peak demand.
Once deployed, DemandSMART will manage TEP’s network of commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities, activating its network of customers to reduce electricity use. EnerNOC will manage each site’s performance in real time from its Network Operations Center (NOC).
In return, customers will receive payments from EnerNOC, and have access to DemandSMART, which provides real-time energy data and reporting functionality to maximize demand response performance and identify additional opportunities for energy savings.
