Locus Expands EIM to Include Water Quality

Locus Technologies has expanded its Environmental Information Management (EIM) software to include water quality foot printing capabilities for businesses, according to a company press release.

EIM’s expanded functionality enables companies to manage and organize their water quality data on a larger and more comprehensive scale using cloud-based computing and storage, thus avoiding the need to buy additional environmental software or store the same data in more than one location, according to the company.

The news comes on the heels of an announcement by Oracle that the largest enterprise software supplier in the world will be getting into the water sector as well. Linda Jackman, group vice president of product strategy and management for the Utilities Global Business Unit at Oracle, said the software company sees water as a huge opportunity for it to expand services to the utility customers it’s currently serving with smart grid solutions, according to a report. Speaking at The Networked Grid conference, Jackman said the water sector will eventually be even larger than the energy sector for the company.
