Small to large businesses can take advantage of carbon and energy management tools to help them gather emissions, energy and other environmental data. These tools with easy-to-use interfaces are designed to help businesses improve their efficiency and productivity, while reducing costs.

As an example, Village Green Global in a joint venture with Greenopia and Green Globe International will make its carbon accounting tool available to small and medium businesses.

Under the agreement, Greenopia’s 25,000 small/medium business customers will be able to purchase Village Green’s SaaS-based carbon accounting tool, SMARTweb, at a discount rate. The tool tracks the environmental impacts of businesses, and delivers product-specific recommendations to improve sustainability and reduce costs.

Customers can begin using the service in mid-July.

The carbon emissions accounting tool enables enterprises, governments and individuals to accurately gather and verify emission data using the online application, and allows for multiple levels of automated reporting.

Greenopia ranks the “greenness” of companies and products using its proprietary eco-analysis methodology. Businesses and merchants use the company’s targeted marketing methods to reach consumers who are making greener choices.

Most recently, Greenopia ranked the most environmentally-friendly airlines.

For data centers, Schneider Electric introduced a new solution to add data center visibility to electrical monitoring systems in critical power applications. The company’s Data Center Module for ION Enterprise enables users to collect and store data from key distribution points across an electrical network. The new solution is aimed at helping businesses save energy and improve overall efficiency and productivity without new hardware.

Schneider says the new tool enables customers to combine energy data from UPS devices with traditional metering equipment, with the benefit of a unified, low-cost monitoring system with an easy-to-read power usage effectiveness (PUE) interface.

The system can monitor multiple device types via SNMP or Modbus, including SmartUPS, Symmetra, Gutor and Galaxy UPS systems. In addition, customized information can be shared with all stakeholders and with other business and automation systems.
