Restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings plans to open electric car charging stations at all future central Florida locations.

The chain’s central Florida developer, Sunshine Restaurant Co., opened its first charging station jointly with utility Progress Energy Florida and charging infrastructure company NovaCharge.

The restaurant has also been holding an electric vehicle showcase, allowing guests to test-drive the Chevrolet Volt, the Nissan Leaf and the Tesla Roadster.

Sunshine, which operates seven Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants, plans to open the charging stations at its new restaurant in Daytona Beach and at all future central Florida locations.

Customers will be able to find the stations at a NovaCharge website, ChargePoint Network Find Stations.

“As the number of electric vehicles grows over the coming years, we know customers will choose Buffalo Wild Wings over our competitors because of the ability to charge their vehicle for free while enjoying their favorite sporting event,” Sunshine Restaurant president and CEO Andrew L. Gross said.

McDonald’s has installed a NovaCharge car charging station at a restaurant in Cary, N.C. The chain has also installed an electric car charging station as part of a solar power installation in San Diego.
