EcoSMART helps customers track real-time performance to save energy and paper, HP says. The IT company says that EcoSMART can help customers reduce costs by up to 30 percent, and reduce energy up to 80 percent when used in combination with HP Managed Print Services.
HP has also introduced the HP EcoSolutions Store, which features more than 300 of the company’s Energy Star-qualified and EPEAT registered products for consumers and small businesses. HP recently achieved a 50 percent improvement in product energy efficiency, compared to a 2005 baseline, exceeding its goal to reduce products’ energy consumption by 40 percent by the end of 2011.
Earlier this month the company launched its Energy and Sustainability Management (ESM) application and services, and announced it is collaborating with Hara to offer a combined energy management and emissions reduction software package.
In other product news, Locus Technologies has launched an iPhone application for mobile collection of water data. The product, eWell, consists of the iPhone application itself (available from the iPhone App Store for $19.95) and Locus’s web-based Environmental Information Management (EIM) application.
Using EIM, eWell users can map routes for testing a series of wells. They can download these routes to the iPhone, along with selected historical environmental data on their wells.
Customers can then use iPhones, iPod Touches or iPads to record water levels, pH, turbidity and other information. The data uploads instantly where Wi-Fi or 3G coverage is available, Locus says, or else saves for uploading when coverage returns.
GreenHouse Holdings, a provider of energy efficient products, has announced a partnership with demand-response company EnergyConnect, Inc. The two companies plan to offer an integrated energy management and automated demand response (Auto-DR) service.
Auto-DR allows users to automatically lessen their electricity consumption when they receive signals that utility costs are at their highest. Under the terms of the agreement, GreenHouse will offer its Auto-DR services to EnergyConnect customers, and EnergyConnect will market its products to GreenHouse clients.
This will allow customers complete control over curtailment measures that they can implement on an event-by-event basis, the two companies said.
